What to do with Christmas Cards

What do you do with your Christmas cards after Christmas?

Remembering the “power of prayer” knowing many of my family members and friends need prayer . . . I first cut out their return address label and tape to the back of the card, put the Christmas cards in a basket near my Bible and OnCall Prayer Journal, and pull from that basket all year long to pray for that person & family. And as God leads, I sent them encouragement cards throughout the year.

Christmas cards are a wonderful call-to-prayer all year long!

Merry Christmas.

No Other Name

For many years I have read from a wonderful devotional book called “God Calling.” It was published decades ago and the authors remain anonymous. Today’s reading is a wonderful reminder to use the name of Jesus often. “Jesus.” In sorrow, in pain, in need, and in adoration . . . just say “Jesus.” Such peace His Name will bring into our lives. Scripture also tells us this: There is none other Name under Heaven whereby you can be saved. “Jesus.” Call upon His Name today!

Does God Hear Your prayers?

“Every prayer of the Christian, made in faith, according to the will of God for which God has promised, offered up in the name of Jesus Christ, and under the influence of the Spirit, whether for temporal or for spiritual blessings, is, or will be fully answered. …. no prayer made in His Name will ever be in vain.”   Psalm 6:5 “My expectation is from Him.” (June 16th devotional from Streams in the Desert, Mrs. Charles E. Cowman)

“He is the strength of my heart.”

I love reading Psalm 73 from the Living Bible translation.  I am especially encouraged by the words in Verse 27 . . “He is the strength of my heart.”

And it continues in Verse 28 . . .”But as for me I get as close to Him as I can.  I have chosen Him and I will tell everyone about the wonderful ways He rescued me.”  Friend, I don’t know your story,  but I do know mine and He has rescued me . . .  more than once!

Indeed . . . He is the strength of my heart!

How about you?

Everyday is Easter! Amen?

Isn’t this scripture a powerful reminder?  “He is not here; for He is risen as He said.”  Matthew 28:6. For those of us who have made that ONE most important decision in our life  . . .  that defining moment when we’ve prayed that simple prayer to ask Jesus to be our Savior, we can know in our knower that we serve a risen Lord.  And isn’t it amazing that this is a one time decision!  Yes . . . . Everyday is Easter for the Believer!

Oswald Chambers (1874-1917) Scottish minister & teacher says it this way: “In new birth God does three impossible things:  the first is to make a man’s past as though it had never been; the second to make a man all over again, and the third, to make a man certain of God as God is of himself.”

Sending blessings your way.  We serve a risen Lord!

Are you an Encourager or a Discourager?

As we turn on the TV news, read the newspapers, internet, and social media posts and listen to the stories of our friends and neighbors, even those in our our churches, it is a FACT that we live in a world with much discouragement.

I have a sobering question: Are you an Encourager or a Discourager? Webster has a definition for the word encourager – “To give courage to; to inspire with hope; to embolden (to give boldness or courage to.)”

As the familiar saying goes . . . “Everyone is either going into a storm, in the middle of the storm, or coming out of a storm.”  Amen?

Let’s give the Gift of Encouragement today. Make a phone call. Send a note in the mail. Give a hug. Tell someone you love them.

The Apostle Paul, speaking to the believers in Colosee, sets a great example for us all:  “My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love.” Colossians 2:2

REMEMBER THIS . . . you may be holding someone’s heart in your hands today.  Make a habit of asking . . . “How can I pray for you today?”

May God bless you richly and grant you FAVOR as you are about your Father’s business!

A Word to the Wise – A Great Word for 2014

“The Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from the Bible.”   Dwight L. Moody As I begin a new year, I want to remember to not look another person in the face until I’ve looked into the Face of God.  How about you? For we know we are too blessed to be stressed!  Amen?  Amen!
